Well if you are or have any questions about him just email me them, I'm sure I can answer them. Also I'm looking for some poets or lyricist or people who write poems or song but dont consider themselves a poet. I need a total of 5 people. So if anyone wants to become famous or make some money please email me I'm interviewing over the internet, phone and also in person. Please respond soon. And also you will meet famous people such as Saul Stacey Williams. Thank you for your time. -David

Just a couple of quick notes. As an artist (screenwriter), I cannot say enough to tell you how important your new LP is. I feel like there is a voice that has come out to speak the truth and tell it like it by incorporating earthness and dignity. We as a people and nation (I am Ethiopian by birth but have considered myself part of the african american nation) need new tools to emerge from the state we are in right now. It is the truth that shall set you free, and truth comes in form of reality, not the flashy type of hip-hop that has taken us to a "detour". Many thanks to you and your good work. God bless.

Much respect to all the ppl who replied in.I may not know a lot about him, but after seeing his video clip with Macy Gray, i couldn't get enough of it. I must say, your music influence has inspired the new generation of the Rap industry and may it be so. My roots has always been in-line with artists like Jamiroquai and The Brand New Heavies. Thanks for reliving the good name of funk and soul. You're the man!! Hope to hear more about your upcoming plans on gigs and happenings.

Common thanks forNG up our minds and helping us SEE whats BEYOND the horizon. Like Plato says we are all a group of people in a cave tied up so that we cannot move any part of our bodies. Far above us is a big FIRE and behind the fire is another group of people who can move about freely. These free people have objects that they move around like puppets and all of the prisoners below see the shadow of these objects. WE can only see what they show us. You set some of free from what was tying us down. And now like the people in the cave it hurts to move because we have never turned our necks before, or moved our arms. A lot of us will not keep going in this philosophical process because it will hurt too much. So like most they will only get a glimpse of what freedom really is and what is the real reality. Plato knew what he was talking about, look at TV. The people who run the networks and the advertisers only show you what they want you to see. Most don't know whats outside the box. Keep it real Common because you got a lot of people listening, observing, and feeling you. Let them know how it is. Peace.

First of all I have truly loved Common since his first single came out but I noticed something wrong in the album jacket of "One Day It'll All Make Sense". There is a section where bible scripture is quoted and this is the most highly qouted scripture by young people in recent years, but it incorrect in that on the album jacket it says that it is Corinthians 12:12 but it is really (according to the bible) 1 Corinthians Chapter 13. Just a little observation but I wonder if Common ever realized this?

Common is probably the most talented hip hop artist. I think he could use his talent to be a role model for the balck community. I think he should rap more about political issues to show his work has a purpose. Recently, his work has not been great as it once was. Common along with Mos Def should speak and the represent the black community positively unlike the other monotonous rappers of greed and lust.

The first time that I saw you perform was at the spitkicker tour here in Atlanta. (2000) My brother, you are truly a work of art, a blessing, and a beautiful role model for this generation of youth. I actually wrote you a letter to give you to you after the show ( You truly touched me). I planned to give it you at Karma, but unfortunately I didn't make it. Anyway... First thank you for your talent and inspiration and gift. Your message IS getting across and people do feel exactly where you are coming from. Your spirit shines bright, never let it go out. Never. Your music relaxes me. I have numerous pictures of you, even one in my car (crazy huh?). Your talent is so great and message is so clear, how can one not love you as if they have know you for years. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!! And let us know when you are coming back to Atl. again. Props on the concert with Jill Scott... Beautiful my brother, beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love ya...

Dear Common and Producers of "Like Water for Chocolate",
As an aspiring producer / hip hop composer, I give mad props to the composition and engineering of this album.
Thank you for "composing" colorful music for the hip hop culture, instead of staying with the mainstream "Sample" crazy art.
The lyrics are dead on, and it is time that we start hearing these types of messages as the planet and human mind evolve into a more spiritual awareness.
I hope to one day meet with talented producers and lyricist with the same goal in mind: Enlightenment, Truth, and Music to set our people free.

Um I cannot call myself your biggest fan because I never knew who you were before you did the album "Like Water For Chocolate". The reason for that is because im from the Bahamas and over here they never really played your music. But after finally getting BET, I know who you are and what your all about. I just want to wish you the best of luck with your music and your life, and I want you to remember that GOD loves you and you are his child. With him everything is possible, never let n e one discourage you, keep your head up. And remember that you always got love coming from the land of the Sun, Sand and Sea!
Love always

I doubt it very seriously if the CSense will read this.... but let it be known that Common is an artist, an artist who has discovered the key that unlocks the door to ultimate expression of artistry. And that being maturity, patience, wisdom, and let's not forget the talent. Because of this for me he has become a classic inspiration... never fading out of style, constantly at the fore front and always awed when you see and hear it... keep up the good work because you're creativity will have a residual affect...

are extremely important to what makes a man. i never bought a hip hop album and common was my first. he is definitely a philosopher and his ryhmes continuely grab my attention whenever i listen to the album(like water for chocolate). he really has me thinking about life instead of what i should buy with my money. this album is a A++ THANK YOU Common for being such an inspiration. and hopefully i can thank him in person.

I just gotta say how glad i am to have found the new album,"like water for choclate". I think this is exatcly what the 13th generation needs to hear. Hip Hop is such a beautiful art form and so many times I find it littered with insincerity. The message that ,"money is all that matters", has affected the youth of this nation. I see apathy on on faces that should otherwise be flowing with freedom, and love. we need people like C to the O double M-ON who like soldiers stand with courage in an industry that so often says "be cool, sell records, sex sells-with drug sales". I would love to have millions, but I will not sacrafice my art, my principles, or my love for my brother everything.

Common, I really feel your poetry. I am a 25-yr. old freelance writer and wife. My poetry is very original and is meant to stimulate minds. I find we think alot alike. I think of your music as true hip-hop. I don't agree with the rappers who sell their music by degrading precious black women, using drugs, and who has on the most expensive jewelry or cars. It is so completely stupid and paints a negative picture in which other cultures observe. Thanks for being real... A fan of your lyrics, Sienna

One year ago I didn't even know who you, (Common) was. I heard a song from you about 6 months ago and I was very fascinated with your style. The first song I ever heard from you was "retrospective for life". The first thing that caught me since i myself is a musician, is the music. And every morning i would listen to that song along with "All night long". Just recently i visited San Antonio, Texas ( I live in houston ) and this is where I bought this cd, I actually was looking for your latest project "Like water....." or something like that, please excuss that I just forgot the title, again I'm sorry! But after listening to this cd "One day..." you are now the greatest mc in my eyes, i know you've probably heard this alot but man, i really mean this. And i really respect the fear and love that you have for the Lord Jesus Christ! One day if the Lord allows me I would really like to meet you. I write music myself but mainly i play the drums, i'm very good too, i play for Christian concerts and stuff like that. But when i'm messin with my friends I freestyle and our styles are very similar, in my lyrics I put my heart into it, for instance my lyrics of a song I wrote called "The quest" would bring tears to some, and change the thoughts of others because it's so real. And that's why I study you so hard because the same way I shock my friends, you shock me!! But thing that alot of people respect me for is my talent to come up with beats on the spot, often makin the crowd get hype, one time i was just comin up with beats and switchin them so that the crowd that was freestylin almost was kicked out of school because people started dancin and singin so it formed a huge distraction in the cafeteria. I know you've probably got alot of messages like this or somewhat similar, but I just Pray that you see this particular comment. I'm cheering for you brother, don't let the devil sucker you into anymoves and keep your head up high, cause one day we will all be in the promise land!! - God Bless - Ian Johnson

Yeah, So I caught the spitkickers tour (kweli, biz, common, pharoe, de la) in San Francisco on friday. Shit was definiteley live...except for a few things. We all know that the Biz isn't too exiting now (his stomach cross fading just doesn't cut it)but the real low point of the show occurred during common's set. A little scuffle broke out in the front and common used it as a vehicle to spit a ridiculously homophobic and hateful freestyle. I've been annoyed by some of his lines in the past, but this was the straw that broke the camel's back. the worst part...he probably got the loudest response of the whole night for that shit. I just don't see how he can promote himself as a consious MC while completeley disrespecting a group of people who are struggling just as much as he thinks he is. And its not just him. The hip-hop community in general has a lot of growing to do. How many times have you been to a DJ battle where someone has scratched the word faggot and pointed at his opponet, eliciting a liveley crowd response. For a community that touts the fact that it has gotton past the whole race thing (which I'm also unsure of)there still seem to be alot of hang ups on equally trivial matters.
How many of you cheered that night?
If anyone wants some common CD's cheap, you can find mine on the used rack at amoeba.
peace
i'd love to hear from the man himself if he ever checks these boards.

Common's new album is testiment to his superior ability as a lyricist. He's admired by artists everywhere because his creative ability comes from God, his mind, soul and heart.
Much respect!

"Like Water for Chocolate"- I am happy to say that my little brother(Frank Caver 23yrs)who is a deeply introspective, well read, hip-hop fanatic; had the insight to share with me the love he has for Common's music. I am a 28 year old mother of two and wife and I must say after seeing the video,The Light; I was compelled to buy the album. My only desire is that I wish more young black people wouldtheir eyes to see the beauty and love that common is trying to share with all of us. He is truly a beautiful and gifted Afro-American man. Additionally, thank you for creating poetry that expresses the sincere love that you have for the black women. Thank you. Felita Caver-Singleton

I just have to say the new album was real good. Not so many MCs had touched my heart as the way you do... You know, everyone is tryin' to be rowdy and all these days, but you got your style goin' and I really respect that. Your songs always touch deep down in my heart... Specially, "The Light" and "G.O.D" were the ones of the most touching songs that I have ever heard in such a long time. Stay being positive and keep makin' the songs you feel it's right. Peace and Much LOVE.

Man, I bought "Like Water For Chocolate" the day it came out--as a matter of fact, I put it on reserve. I had heard so much about this "Common" that I began to anticipate like no other. I should say that my taste in music is as deep andminded as many of you who enjoy Common's work--I really don't get into all that synthesized "Thug thug" Cash Money Ruff Ryders crap...I like the instrumentals. That's why I love Tribe Called Quest...that's why I'm ostricized for liking Q-Tip's "Amplified" (which was also produced by jay-Dee of the Ummah w/ Q-Tip--great job guys).
So I picked up the album...and from the intro "Time Travelin" I was hooked. Then Common actually started rapping--his smooth delivery and introspective lyrics had me hooked from beginning to end. This only the 2nd of all the albums I have from ANYone where I can listen to it from beginning to end on the first time thru without skipping (The other one is Tribe Called Quest's "Midnight Marauders"). So I was so amazed, I went and bought "One Day it'll All Make Sense," besides--it had "Reminding Me (of Sef)" on it--that's always been a favorite of mine. Again, I was blown away--hard tracks like "Real Nigga Quotes," "Making a Name for Ourselves" and "1,2 Many...", along with the Stolen Moments narratives, go right along with the soulful "Retrospect for Life," "G.O.D (Gaining one's Definition) and "Reminding Me". It is incredible.
Common is the man.
Now I have to go and hear what he has to say on "Resurrection"...

Enter Your Comment Here YO! YO! YO! COMMON HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE THE NICEST MC'S IN THE GAME OF HIPHOP IF NOT THE NICEST. HIS MUSIC HAS ALWAYS MOVED ME IN MANY WAYS. I LOVED HIS VERY FIRST ALBUM IT SHOWED ME HIS ORIGINALITY IN THE HIPHOP GAME. HIS SECOND ALBUM CAUGHT MY EAR WITH " I USED TO LOVE HER " BUT, THE 3RD ALBUM TOOK THE CAKE. HE SHOWED ME HOW "MATURE" HE HAD BACAME AS A PERSON AN TO THE WORLD OF HIPHOP. I THOUGHT THAT ALBUM WOULD BLOW HIM UP AN GIVE HIM A SPOT IN HIPHOP WHERE HE COULD STAND ALONE. WITH SONGS LIKE " RETROSPECT FOR LIFE ", G.O.D. ( GAINING ONE'S DEFINITION ), AN MANY OTHERS LIKE " HUNGRY " THAT SHOWED HIS LYRICAL SKILL AS A MC. THE ALBUM " ONE DAY IT'LL ALL MAKE SENSE " IS A ALBUM I LOVE FROM BEGINNING TO END ( THAT ALBUM I TOOK A JOURNEY WITH HIM THROUGH THE WHOLE ALBUM THAT MADE ME LOOK AT THINGS IN A BETTER LIGHT ). THAT ALBUM WILL HELP YOU GROW AS A PERSON....... NOW FOR THE ALBUM " LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE " HE IS A ARTIST THAT FINALLY GOT HIS RESPECT IN THE IN THIS CUT THROAT GAME OF HIPHOP. SONGS LIKE " THE 6TH SENCE " PRODUCED BY DJ PREMIERE "PREMO" ( THAT IS MY FAVORITE PRODUCER ), " THE LIGHT ", " GETO HEAVEN PART 2 ", " FUNKY FOR YOU " ( I JUST HAVE TO SAY THAT SONG I CAN GROOVE TO AN VIBE TO ) AND THE MOST MOVING SONG THAT MADE ME COMPLETE WAS " A SONG FOR ASSATA ". THAT SONG HELP ME AN MADE ME WANT TO READ UP ON OUR BLACK PEOPLE THAT HAS BEEN THROUGH THE STRUGGLE A LITTLE BIT MORE AS A BLACK AMERICAN. ALSO, WHAT MADE ME LOVE THE SONG A MORE THAN USUAL WAS THE VOCALS OF CEE-LO. HE SUNG THAT SONG LIKE A " BLACK SLAVE IN THE COTTON FIELDS " THE SONG HAD ME HYPMOTIZED WITH IS VOCALS. I SURE HOPE HE ( CEE-LO )IS WORKING ON HIS SOLO ALBUM BECAUSE, IT IS SURE TO GO DOUBLE PLATINUM AN HE HAS TO FEATURE COMMOM ON THE ALBUM ( NO DOUBT )..... AND BEFORE I SIGN OFF I WOULD LIKE TO SAY TO COMMON THANKS FOR COMING TO HOUSTON LAST WEEK. TO THE UNDERGROUND CLUB " CARDIS 2000 " YOU REALLY TURNED IT OUT BROTHA. I HOPE YOU AN " THE ROOTS " AN OTHER ARTIST OFF RAWKUS MAKE MOVES FOR A BIG TOUR IN HOUSTON ONE DAY AN STOP SKIPPING OVER HOUSTON. AN STOP GOING TO PLACE LIKE SAN ANTONIO AN THE HOUSE OF BLUES. WHEN ARE WE GOING TO BE ABLE TO GIVE YOU SOME THE REAL HIPHOP HEADS SOME LOVE IF WE DON'T GET IT AT ALL. IF YOU CAN COMMON OR WHO EVER IS READING THIS PLEASE TRY TO GET A PROMOTIONAL TOUR OR SOMETHING TO HOUSTON. WE GOT LOVE FOR YOU OUT HERE. ONE MORE THING TO MY BOY COMMON.... YOU ARE GOING TO LAST A LONG TIME IN THIS INDUSTRY OF RAP. ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS " RESPECT " BROTHA " RESPECT ".

How are you doing. First of all, much respect on your new album. It's has some hot tracks, I just wish you had Black Thought flow on the album. I was fooled when I saw his name on the credits but didn't hear him on the album. What's the update on your collabo' with Black Thought, Pharoahe Monche, and Absolut. It was mentioned on the Lyricist Lounge album. "Final thought"- I read your interview in the source when you went to Cuba to see Assata Shakur. A Santera told you something about where you'd be heading in future as far as your professiona is concerned. Take heed big man. Keep evolving and keep feeding that soul. Peace.

One day It'll all make sense is one of the best albums that came out in recent times. Although Common's latest album didn't sell an astronomical amount, it still is considered a classic. One day.... offers real hip-hop heads complex lyricism, head-nodding beats, and a little history 101.(if you know what i mean.)Common's lyrics are profound and delicate. Many rapper's don't possess such lyrical skills as Common. I just hope people will support his latest album to be "Like Water for Chocolate". It will be one of the most highly anticipated albums of the year. Just recently, I wrote to the source about the recent issue "Underground
artists". I'm not knocking Mos Def, Pharoah Monche, or Black Thought; In my opinion, Common should have had the oppurtunity to grace the cover of the renown magazine. I really am a fan of Common, i just hope he produce more fans so they can relate with me. Like Common said "One day It'll all make sense".

WHAT'S UP TO ALL THE COMMON FANS, AND TO COMMON FOR MAKING THIS WEBSITE EVEN POSSIBLE.
NOW I'M FROM THE BIG ILLINOIS, AND 10 MINUTES AWAY FROM THE CHI. SO I GOTTA BE VERSED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT COMMON SPITS. THE ONE PROBLEM I SEEM TO NOTICE IS THAT COMMON DOESN'T HARDLY GET THE RESPECT HE NEEDS TO BE GETTING IN HIS OWN HOMETOWN, AND THAT SHIT UPSETS ME TO THE FULLEST. THE WORLD IS ALL ABOUT BUSINESS AND POLITICS IN MY EYES, AND MOST OF THE RADIO STATIONS IN CHICAGO AREN'T ON THE REAL BUSINESS, ON BRINGING THE REAL MUSIC HERE. WGCI(107.5FM)DID PLAY "1-9-9-9" ON THE RADIO FOR A COUPLE WEEKS, AND I COMMEND THEM FOR SHOWING HIM A LITTLE LOVE. BUT THERE IS FAR TOO MUCH BULLSHIT THAT'S GETTING PLAY, WHICH ARE NOT HITS OR EVEN GOOD MUSIC.
SO, BASICALLY I WOULD LIKE TO THANK COMMON FOR SPEAKING ON WHAT HE KNOWS, AND HOW HE NEVER STOPS TALKING ABOUT WHERE HE'S FROM. (i.e. IT'S CHI-CA-I-GO-FOR, I THOUGHT THAT WAS DOPE!) BUT I'M SO GLAD THERE ARE SO MANY COMMONITES OUT HERE!!
EVERYBODY HIT UP THE WEBSITE CAUSE SO WE CAN "CHAT".

A'right...I'm from Boston, MA. and back home (Harvard University)-they put together this ill group of hiphop artists to show the people at Harvard wassup, to drop some knowledge. I go to Syracuse Univ. and I'm looking to do the same sort of thing. Common, as the illest hiphop artist of all times, it would be dope if you could make an appearance here at the 'Cuse. Poeple here need to be educated by someone like you...my e-mail address is: bsyessel, if there's anyway you could respond? Thanks for your time-Blyzza

Common would you call the lyrics you use spoken word more than rap or hip-hop because I am a fan but I think it sounds more of a spoken word base than a hip hop one.

It seems like you can't find com's first joint it your life depended on it. i search high and low, i beg and plead, i've heard a couple of cuts but i want the entire thing. hey common a friend of mine was in the chi for the taste this year and got a disc from the Chicago Out-fitters, it's super tight. they said they had done a little bit of work with you in the past. they would be a tight group to have come along with you to the top, like the wu- and killah army.

:
Common with out a doubt is the tightest rapper/hip-hopper
out right now. his lyrical display, artistic talent and social responsibility is up way beyond almost any other rapper out. when i hear a new rap artist, or any new cd for that matter i compare them two a list of people: black thought, krs one, rakim, gangstarr and common. with common being at the top of the list. listen to HUNGRY off of his last album i'll put that up against anyones lyrics for battles. it's sad to say this but, if his album would have
dropped about a month after lauryn hills he would have blown up out of control. (not to take anything away from
L) but you have to ride on feeding frenzies sometimes and lauryn hill was real hot, i can't wait for common to drop something new, i'll pay double the price for it.

Hi Common.
About 6 months ago a good friend of mine gave me a CD and said, "I'm giving this to you for a reason." I was 22. It was Resurrection. At that time I liked some hip hop, but I really didn't know shit. I am a big, white boy from Wisconsin and the only hip hop I was exposed to was the popular junk they play on pop stations.
So I listened to the CD and listened and listened. I thought it was pretty phat. Good beats, good scratching, good lyrics. I liked the money song. So I was listening to the CD at my friends place, reciting some lyrics and thinking I was cool and my friend gave me this patronizing look and said, "Listen to 'I used to Love Her' and 'Book of Life'".
'I used to Love Her' was easy to get, even considering the fact that although I lived thru that time, I really didn't know much about hip-hop. And then I started listening to 'Book of Life'. I put it on repeat in my CD player and listened to it every couple days.
So I was sitting on my sofa listening to the song and I don't know what happened because suddenly I got. It was like a switch went on in my head. The whole thing took shape in my head and I understood. I had never been touched (cliché word I know) by a hip hop song like that. Seriously, once I got it it knocked me on my ass. I called up my friend and told him. He said, "Now you are beginning to understand." Since then he has been introducing me to all kinds of high quality hip hop like Roots and Wu-Tang.
The moral of the story is that your musicd up my eyes to the world of hip hop. So thanks. And keep doing what your doing.

Common, man, I see your influence, and I share the same upbringing through music. I know you won't debat eon the fact as Stevie Wonder as the alltime greatest mind in music. It seems that your soul is imprinted on the vinyl, and I really see your style as a lighthouse in the fog. You are single- handedly saving this Hip Hop thing.

Peace, Com. Man listening to your lyrics since 'Can I Borrow a Dollar?' has made me feel as though I know you, but I'm sure that you're more than just some lyrics on wax. I appreciate your style, it kinda reminds me of 'self. The One Day It'll All Make Sense CD was tight, every single joint except for the one that you did with De La. Were they having a bad day at the time? It was still all good because it was from the amphitheater and I've been there a time or two myself - for different reasons. Also, I'm still giving your Resurrection CD ugly play to this day. I know you've got soul!!!
Peep, I've been trying to give you a holla about some real lyrics when I saw you over around Stony once or twice, but I didn't want to seem like one of those groupie niggas that's always trying to shop his demo - just wasting your time. But I will say this: I've been writing and learning for years now...doing little no-name spots here and there, but without sounding like I want to take anything from you or anything like that, I just want to know what it is I can do to get on? For real. I mean I'm not looking to be a millionaire. I'm just trying to be established. I mean I just got my bachelor's and finding a job still is like getting home on the 24 (Wentworth) after 12:am. If you can find the time, give a man a holla. Peace.

Right now "Things Fall Apart" is the best album to drop in the past few years...every element of the album is flawless. Concepts, beats, sequencing, and lyrics...somebody want lyrics (had to quote KRS-One). I am fiending for Com Sense to emerge with the new hot shit. Common, you know you're teasing us with joints like "1-9-9-9" or the collabo with The Roots. I feel that you are one of the purest mc's to spit on a mic. That's saying much with the influx of talented lyricists out there, signed and especially unsigned. I go back to the "Unsigned Hype" days with you son. One love...I'm waiting for the butter album. P.S. I still get a tear or two with the "Retrospect for Life" joint.

On the real I Dont have to tell you that your album was off the meter cause you know it was. Even if I told you it was trash that ish still shouldn't matter cause it came from your heart and you expressed your feelings the best way you knew how, through musical poetry. Hopefully once me and my crew get some reconition we can collab. Positive Hip Hop is the future! So everyone grab your pen for the love not the money, not the cash, not the hoes. also, Lauryn hill and the roots are going on tour this summer and i was just thinking how dope it would be if common sense was also on this tour. its like 25 bones for the lawn seats and having comm there would make it more than worth it.

What´s up Common !
I´m from Denmark and was lucky enough to catch one of your shows. Unfortunately most artist say fuck it when it comes to playing in Denmark and don´t show up (ieg. Kool Keith missed a flight twice, and we had paid top dollar to see his show with the Beatnuts, what the fuck!!!!) But I just wanted to say that that show was one of the best I´ve ever been to, stage presence, the live music, the whole shit was just plain ol´ dope and soulful, and it made me believe in love again.(Don´t ask why it just did) But thanks for the show in Århus and let´s hear some new shit soon, hip hop is starving right about now (with the exception of the new Roots album)

Com's new album is phat. I just noticed the web site address. Every song is unique and lyrically on point. Can't wait till the next album, any idea when that will be?
Album definitely met my expectations after hearing the masterpiece Ressurection. Keep it real.

I just want to say that I think Common is one of the best. I saw him and The Roots @ the 9:30 club in D.C. Both groups got their man!!! I just recently discovered Common, but I can say I will be a lifelong fan. Keep doin what ya doin, cause some of us really appreciate it!

I forgot to say that since I live in new orleans and its very hard to get word of any real hip-hop. All I hear is that master p junk and playa rap. Our hiphop community is starting to increase, but Common or some other real hiphop groups have to tour the new orleans area in other places than House of Blues. Hip-hop is the word so spread it. My purpose is to make hiphopracy extinct. peace.

I doubt this will ever reach Common himself, but if in some way it does, then I'd like to give him some of my highest respects. Common has the ability to metaphorically hide a subject in a rhyme and I find it amazing to listen and to read his rhymes. I think that on all of his albums, he has let out what he feels the world is like and what it is going through. I also think he is the most underated MC ever. Much respect from me though. Peace.

I'm fellin ya to the foolest. I just have on question. The way you put down white people, is it to all white people or just the ones who can't get with ya. I mean the things that you say white people do I can see. Its just that I'm not one of those peeps. I can't get with that. I'm was born and raised on hip hop. I'm not one of those white boys that wants to be hard or says that he is from the streets. I just love hip hop and everything that goes with it. I like to hear the messages people have to tell.
I have no hate in me for anyone. I would hope that you would have love for poeple that show you love, white or black. Just a thoughr. Remember you have one white boy bobin his head to ya.

Dear Com, Im 16 years old, and my life is Hip Hop. Im from Boston, and I know that you must not see or read all of these, but I want to let ya know any way about the inspiration that you have on my life. Theres no way I could express the way your music inspires me. There are so many letters that basicly say the same thing that I feel or am trying to express. I couldnt even read them all. I even feel like im waisting my time writing this, but it probly do more good than anything. Even through three albums of not losing the real Hip Hop flava, then on to the Roots to make the 2nd of Hip Hip's best tracks ever, the other being H.E.R., without a doubt the two best songs of my life,(and other Hip Hop Heads around the country)out of an interlude.
The first time I seen you live you were exactly how I pictured you to be. I could go on and on and on how you inspire my, and other lifes of real Hip Hop people, but that, like everything else in this letter, is just like every other. So Com,
Peace, and may the best in life come to you.
Good Luck Mr Hollywood....

First and foremost i want to say that the whole album is off the heazie and i'm feelin it from intro to outro....but i got a couple questions:
on the collaboration with canibus the hook goes "I'm about to make the name com-sense the name you fear/Ya'll niggas is scared/ I'm your worst nightmare squared/That's double for niggas who aint mathematically aware..."
Yo com: are you saying that cause there is two of you (you and canibus) that that is what's doubled or that the two of you doubled is squared (2 squared does equal 4) cause i know you're well aware that a number squared doesnt equal double that number.
sorry to sound so fucking anal but ive always wondered about that shit...also, on the song invocation (my personal favorite), what the hell does the line "I feel Mexican" supposed to mean?
some help from anyone who could clear these questions up for me would be much appreciated.
love your work, com...keep it on the positive

You are the tightest lyricist out there and it seems that you are finally getting your props. I think my only complaint is that you need better production on the beats. If the beats aren't there, then it won't be listened to no matter how tight the lyrics are. Few people buy albums strictly for lyrics. You are one of the few rappers out there that actually have something to say when rhyming. Your rhymes just have to be backed up by better, bangin' tracks; then you will be pushin' gold, maybe platinum sales.
Your rhyme content sets you apart from many already; include heavy hitting tracks, not soft, and it will get you on that next level.

Attention: COMMON! I damn near slept on your career! Boy am I glad I woke up. Finally got up the nerve to get 'ONE DAY IT WILL' and it was incredible! The whole damn album is sweet. It's another hip-hop concept album and it will remain a classic for all time. I love concept albums because you can't just listen to one tune without listening to the whole thing, you know. And the new single: ONE-NINE-NINE-NINE is sweet. I don't wanna go to far here but, listening to that one I noticed that you have an almost jazzy delivery- jazzy not in the contrived sense(e.g. GURU), but jazzy in the way that it almost seems as if you're not rapping, almost as if your just speaking. One has to ask one's self,'Is he rappin'?' Just like when Charlie Parker got up on stage and started playing, you'd have to ask yourself,'Is that a song?' But like all art, the viewer/listener should be uncertain, especially when new ground is being broken. It's like when you come in on ONE-NINE, you just started, almost in mid-sentence! No hype, no bullshit, just the rhymes! And I'll never get over that lyric: 'My rhymes are like penitentiary, track is the visitation!' Boy, I wish niggas here in Detroit could wake up and see the breakthrough. PEACE.

Common kicks some true knowledge about life and other important issues of the world including God. G.O.D. and Retrospect for life are the two of my favorite songs because they show the world that hip hop is more than just rapping or rhyming it is a way of expression, it can serve as a purpose. Though I love each and every song on the album my true true favorite song is the song about when Com went out of town and came back and he found out he got robbed. IT's Dope Luv Ya Common BOO!

i'm not saying common is a bigot. I'm hoping he's not. But i just want to hear what others thought of his use of the word dyke and whatnot. I dont wanted him to be cause he's so positive and is a tight mc. I was mad disappointed when i realized organized noise heads is bigots. But they are. They are talented mcs, but that doesnt mean they're not bigots. If u listen to fly away, gipp talks about shooting gay rights activists. On jazzy belle, outkasts says similar shit. Watch the video for Watch For The Hook. They're making fun of interracial relationships. I wish they werent so fucking prejudice cause they are so conscious and positive other than that prejudice bullshit. They're also some of the most innovative mufuckas around, like they new video w/ slick rick and the puppets and shit. But i'ma never buy they shit unless they stop being bigots. They're not bigots for calling Black people to recognize and gain knowledge of self; they're bigots for talking about killing gay rights activists and discouraging interracial relationships. Thats the same shit those nazis was doing in higher learning. Remember whent they jumped the interracial couple on Halloween and whooped they asses. And right befor that one ho killed tyra, his skinhead homeboys were beating up some gay people. Thats why the police was chasing them when they were telling the one dude to shoot through the walkie talkies. But thanks for the comments Mskongo. I really mean that and i meant no disrespect either. I'm glad someone gave me back my comments and hopefully u, and some others, will respond again. I dont want common to be what i consider a bigot. i like having dope, socially conscious artists ( like gangstarr) who i can support and enjoy their music.

This message is in response to Eric's comments... and please no disrespect intended but I felt it necessary that I add my 2 "sense"...
Truth and bigotry are two completely different concepts... I'm a big fan of the whole Dungeon family, Organized Noise, Common and a lot of the other talented MCs who are labeled bigots (racists) because they call for Black people to recognize what wrongs have been perpetuated against them and to take knowledge of self and better themselves. Just because the lyrix may be offensive to you... don't dismiss these talented lyricists by labelling them "bigots." Instead, try to recognize the truth in what they are saying and stop getting so caught up being PC.
I mean...Passing up the big $$$ that is awarded to those who pimp hip hop, is a sign of inner strength... 'cause a lot of them "could have sampled Diana Ross a long time ago" but instead they chose to try to enlighten.
Well that's Peace...

What's going on. Yo, straight off the top, Common is the livest nigga on the mouthpiece. Lyrically, Common say shit that you gotta do research to understand. Respiration is a tight joint. An album with Mos Def, Black Thought or another conscious MC would be a classic. Regardless, anything Common put out-solo or cameo- is copped, period. Common could make the whole wack-ass no limit posse shine and that ain't easy.

is common being prejudice against gay people? he says shit like, i come to grips w/ mics, i come to grips that a lotta mic users is dykes, and i dont need dyke brauds to set it. Hopefully he is not hating by saying that shit, since those lines dont seem real prejudice or hateful. I hope he's not cause he definitely is one of the dopest mcs now because of both content and skills. I also wonder cause of that track w/ cee lo from goodie mob. For those of u who havent figured it out yet, or choose to ignore it or agree w/ them or whatever, all them organized noise cats is bigots, in terms of race and also gay people. Listen to jazzy belle, fly away or the beginning in the video for watch for the hook. It's a shame that outkast and them are bigots cause they had some tight shit too. and they had some real meaning to their lyrics too. Hopefully commom wont turn out to be a bigot like them.

First and foremost, Common is my favorite MC. Period. The lyrics are real stuff that I relate to. Stuff I've been through and done. When I listen to hip-hop, I don't want to hear about clothes, drugs and gun-fights. I want stuff to make me think. The new album was decent. I do wish that Q-tip and Black Thought dropped lyrics on their songs, though. And, I wish tracks 2 and 9 were longer. Those were two of the hypest beats. Keep bringin it. Next album, if you do cameos, bring back Tip, De La , L-boogie. Also, you gotta have my nigga Most Def. He's nice as sh!t. You know, return the favor from the Black Star album. Oh yeah, Brand Nubian would make a good partner for a song, too. Peace

I would like to know if a certain rumor I heard was true, and if so could you explain to me as to why it is true or not.
I am a caucasian female with a passion/appreciation for every kind of music that you could possibly imagine. Recently, I was conversing with my friend about Lauryn Hill and how I just love her style, music, beliefs, etc...Unfortunatly, he attended a concert in the past year and he told me that Lauryn Hill came out, looked at the crowd, turned around and said that she didn't want to perform for us white folks, that her music isn't for whites to listen too. I personally believe what my freind of 9 years said, I just can't imagine why someone would say that.
Thank-you for your time...

Yo, Common...I'd just like to say from the first time Iheard your single "take it easy" I though your shit was dope. that was back in the day, and your shit stayed phat ever since then. Also I'd like to say, the concept of putting your father on your cd is incredible, not many people would do that because it is not "hard" enough, but in fact I think the last cut on you last album is probbably one of the hardest. It says a lot about you as a person and your father. It laso give us black males some sort of model for us to think about. Personaly, those tracks on resurection & one day... helped me understand my own father much better, and I think that is the point of much of you music. For us to understand ourselves, that's why you are on one the baddes t emmcees out there. Keep on Keepin' on. thanxs for the insparation. Peace and love. Johnny Fevva representin'

Lonnie "Common" Lynn,
I have been a follower of your artistic vibe for about ten years. Much praise to all of your albums. Alot of emcees, are talking loud and saying nothing (Mase, Master P, Mack 10,etc . . .) What I mean by this is that their lyrics doesn't feed the third eye any type of food for knowledge. There is more to the Black Community and life in general than rims, pretend to be pimps, Rolexes, Sex and Cash Flow.
Your lyrics and message reminds me of the legendary Gill Scott Heron, and Curtis Mayfield because they informed Aficans Americans about being socially cautious and to empower themselves for the better. They created an era of Black pride, economically empowerment as well. Lonnie I am proud to say that you definitely belong in that category. You are definitely an intelligent brother. and we need more like you. Common don't change your style (jazzy live instrumentation, positive informing lyrics) because the message last longer than the money and fame.
Much props to the other artist who are also representing and hopefully I can see a tour or some type of collabo: Lauryn Hill, Roots, Black Star, Q-tip, Bahamidia, Cee Knowledge, Black Mongoose, Outkast, Gill Scott Heron, Roy Ayers, Davina, Les Nubians, D'Angelo and Erykah Badu. I'm definitely trying to see you in Washington D.C. 930 club on the 25th of March. Oh Yeah, food for thought: There is no progress without struggle. I'm definitely linking you to my webPage mason.gmu.edu/~thill2 for the ones whose eyes are shut. God is blessing you and is using you as his tool. I trully respect you as an artist and as a person.
Peace and Blessings!

O.D.I.W.A.M.S is dope no doubt and Comm was on point as usual, but there are too many R&B sounding tracks. That's a big reason why it's not as good as Ressurection. I can't wait for "1999". Much props to Common for switching to Rawkus. One love. Peace.

COMMON has got to be the most soulfull and conscious mc to ever touch the mic. I've got to be one of COMMON's biggest fans. I've bought all three albums, every single, and every CD that I'm aware that he appears on (most recently the ROOTS). I've created my own mixed tape for my enjoyment called "THE 'COMMON' EXPERIENCE". On this tape I've put every cameo appearance that I've ever heard and everything from any mixed tape that I've heard. I use this tape to vibe to when I start my daily rhyme writing session. I listen to one of COMMON's three CD's daily, it's just like eating or sleeping it's a daily routine. If anyone has any material or has heard about something that maynot be in regular circulation please let me know so I can search the 'nigga-net' for it or talk to some local dj's about it.

Common Sense lives up to his name. He has come up with the most understandable lyrical material. Other MC's rely on complex theories and complex vocabulary, but Common relies on real-world examples that are more understandable. Alot of "underground" artists have jumped on the bandwagon of being mystical, being a God, a sorcerer, things of that nature. Those are concepts, concepts that are not easily seen as relating to you, me, and the audience.
Hip Hop is not about doing this or freestylin that, it's about feeling and thinking the relationship it has to me/you. A form of self expression... As I go back to Common's 3rd album, I sit back and meditate on the experience the album gives me. All I can say is "Common, you've hit the nail on the head."
Peace to you and Chicago, from Los Angeles, The Gardener's Son aka Dj Olfa Blade 2-25-99

Common,
Let me say that i love your albums.it is 1999 and im still playing them like i just got them.I was fortunate enough to meet you backstage at one of your shows back in 1995 and even then, in the words of black thought, you "stepped off the stage and took a piece of my heart". i see your growth from one tape to the next and it is interesting how our rate of realization(of self and the world around us)is basically parallel. im 20 but folks say im older than my years, my Creator loaned me a son who is 9 months now amd motherhood has changed my life and has given me direction that college or career couldn't but im choosing to have them for my son. i remember when i met u(it was in pensacola,fl at a small audienced show. im not mad cuz u dont remember)i had u autograph my picture of you to "Earth Ghazi Dep" and when u asked me what it meant , i told u and i was really flattered when u said "Earth huh, thats the womanhood,u know. u really look it too, with your natural hair and all."
well,i used a different name in this letter, the name has another path today cuz i feel diffrent today. almost like the yoruba orishas have different names when they exemplify a different trait, though it is the same spirit. (if u dont know what in talking about i would say never mind but i want u to know what im talking about so look it up on the internet if u need to)at any rate, i would continue glorifiying you as a rapper cuz i could do that all day. i just wish i knew you as a person. e-mali me if u wish.
p.s. Omoye is beautiful name. My son's name is Saafir Jah-Ayinde. Saafir=can endure adversity w/o comlaint
Jah=God
Ayinde=he came after our praises.
at first we didnt think so but many factors, including your song w/ lauryn hill helped me realize that.
With My Wholehearted Thanks,
marie_laveau360

"One Day It'll All Make Sense" was probably the best hip-hop release of 1997... but honestly, I thought the production on "Resurrection" was doper and the large amount of cameos wasn't really necessary on a Common LP. Anyway, Common, what's the deal? Are you going to put out an LP on Rawkus? MCA? Relativity? What's happening with that?

Lets get mictastrophe started again...........
and I'll start it
I aim this, to leave you like chestless mc's breathless,
eliminating your right hemisphere so I can see what you're left with,
I make mc's abandon styles whenever I'm wreckless,
as for the seceret Victoria holds I'm the only reasons she kept it,
I bend mentals like light fractured through convex lenses,
enter appliance areas and leave electric plugs and cords extended,
rearranging my cell structure until I'm reinvented,
If we orgied in battles you couldn't fuck with sik-wid-it....
I'm like a period if I don't show up then we got a problem,
and If I do, we still got a problem,
my mental state Bruce Wayne even slept on in Gotham,
I'll snatch the hard out of mc's now they're waiting on Viagra to design a pill so it can revive em,
if I switched your arms and legs would you call it a remix?
what if I put your eye lids where your feet is?
no matter how big the feat is mc's will get defeated,
my equations is equal to injecting clorox in the blood stream of a fetus,
lets get this shit started..................sik-wid-it/illvizion

yo, Com......I just wanted to tell you that, I've had ONE DAY,,,,,,,,since the first day, and like you, life has thrown different tests and trails and now I can truly say I understand where you are coming from on many of the topics you speak on. Like you I've noticed that it's alot of mc's out there. But when you really break it down into mc's who actually have something to say. It's so hard to tell who's the best mc or best rapper of all time because everyone views life and everyone takes a different approach to their rap game, but I will admit since saying the someones the greatest is opinion, I will state a fact. you are the most original, versitale, creative, lyricists that ever deciede to pick up a microphone. The album in my eyes the best Album I ever heard, and probably will hear until you drop again. Thanks for being REAL. I also rap, and theres alot of mc's who I respect and I think can flow, but as far as what they bring to the table I refuse to accept. Hip Hop is about originality and creativity. Anybody can rap about money, ho's, clothes, violience, and drugs, the formula for a real mc to me is to reach by using your true gift. Show me your skills, and you have. You ARE a living Legend, and thanks helping grow lyrically as well as soulfully. I'm also an mc and if theres any way I excercise my gift to you allow me.....on the phone, demo, email, just let me know. Give me the info. I can put my life on it that I'm worth it. Thank you for reading this letter and for the supreme job on one day. It's a masterpiece.

common sense is my favourite mc. Resurrection is my favourite album of all time. NO.i.d. is one of the best producers in hip hop in my opinion and Mista Sinasta is an unbelievable dj. My favourite part about common sense is the fact that he doesn't try to be something he's not. To prove this point i'd like to to quote the man himself, it goes a little something like this: "no one can tell me how to be, cause i'm a be me, cause i'm a man" that line sums up everything i like about common he is who he is and he's not afraid to show it and he's not gonna change for any amount of money. peace to common and if I could say something to him I'd just want to tell him to keep doing what he's doing because it is the best music i've ever heard.

I was thoroughly impressed with the album (it was hella tight), and the only thing that disappoints me is that, like Common, some of the most talented emcees are underground (or just don't get no radio play, and if you don't have one ear to the ground you will never know. I am just a recenlty baptized fan, but in his music/message, I have found an even greater respect for hip hop. What's real cool about every track is that he'll hit you with metaphors from every angle and if you're not sharp you won't even peep... and everytime you listen, you're like "Oh Sh$#!" 'cause you hear something you didn't hear before. My favorite is G.O.D.(Gaining One's...), but "Retrospect for Life" and the rest of the album is tight. The Spoken word by Malik was cool especially when he's like "...and I won't be stoppin' even you had of them red octagons, folks say Malik how you make yo livin, I say by breathin' oxygeon." I was jockin' that makin my brothers and sisters listen to it over and over again 'til they peeped the lyrical richness in that. Anyway, I've said enough, yo please keep the music coming 'cause you definitely inspire those of claiming to be poets out here.
Peace.

One Day It'll All Make Sense is one of the most thorough albums ever created; hip-hop or otherwise. Common is a lyrical genius and his production is extraordinary. It's a cryin' shame that an artist like Common has, and probably will continue to go underappreciated. In a stagnant sesspool of rap, Comm keeps his head above water. Comm, I don't know if you read these personally, but keep doin your shit man. I will be a lifelong fan. All of your albums have been tight. Yo Comm, I STILL love h.e.r.!

Common is the most unbelievable emcee ever. At the present time he's doing more for hip-hop than any other artist out there. I didnt think nothing could top Resurrection but One Day has come very close. Its incredible that he can drop back to back masterpieces like that. Every Common joint to me is the spiritual manefestation of hip-hop culture itself. Nobody else out right now can hit me down deep like Common can. Common is one artist who i know will never sell out in any way. And yo Common--if u get a chance roll through Washington University in St. Louis. Our radio station gives you mad love. Peace.

Common's album was one of the realest albums ever! Every body is to caught up in all this Crystal poppin stuff and all these names of clothes, that it sounds like a commercial and not hip-hop. basically I present hip-hops fantastic four
1 Common
2 Krs 1
3 Plug 1 (pos)
4 jru the damaga
Common is a fantastic lyricist that has 100% skill and 0% gimmick, I would really like to just have a 5 min conversation with Common and I bet that I would become at least 10% smarter

Yo, is it me or does Com need to do a track with Outkast? Since they're on the same wavelength, it would be an instant classic. After Cee-Lo appeared on "G.O.D.", I thought for sure that Com would definitely have more Organized Noize collaborations. I love NO ID, Dug Inf, and Y-Not's production; their shit is soooo raw. But I still would like to hear Com get with producers like Primo, Organized Noize, 88 Keys, and so on. Com is so fucckin' nice on the mic, he needs to bless every producer. Keep rockin' that ill shit Com.

No doubt, Common is the greatest MC to touch the microphone, period. His albums are next level, his style keeps growing, and he's constantly perfecting his shit. From dropping jewelz over tracks to ripping the best show that I have ever seen (and I seen many), Common is finally about to get his P's. After I heard his freestyle on the Lyricist Lounge, I began noticing him popping up everyone's shit. He dropped a gem on Funkmaster Flex mix tape, appeared on Mos Def & Talib Kweli's album, not to mention holding it down on Brand Nubian's latest effort, and appearing in Sprite commercials. Yo, it's this man's time to shine. I can't wait to hear his track on Pete Rock's joint, plus his contribution on Kid Capri's cd, and his up-coming single on the Rawkus label; not to mention the album that's going to send crews back to the lab: The Incredible Force(Common, Black Thought, Pharoahe, and Absolute). It's time that headz start to recognize that Common ain't about no bullshit. He's about making sense. In the great words of OC, "TIMES UP!!!!"

One of my favorite tracks of all time resides on ONE DAY IT WILL ALL MAKE SENSE. The track G.O.D. with Cee-Lo is one of the most inspirational Hip-Hop songs ever. I can honestly listen to Common's verse a million times in a row. As a inspiring Emcee my ears are now stuck to Common and anything he is on. I am positive that in the future, heads and fans will be talking about a legend, a legend in the art known as COMMON!

No offence guys, but my perception of an "underground" mc seems to be alot different than some others. To me, an mc loses his "underground" status as soon as he gains a record deal.
Also, I can't seem to understand all the negative vibe about "selling out" (that is, going commercial). I mean, sure they might just be in it for the money, but does that change the message the mc's giving across through his lyrics? I don't think so. I myself get into alot of stuff by mcs who you would class "underground" but that don't stop me listening to dela or tribe, who I have much respect for but still consider commercial.
Sorry about this pointless rant, just my 2 cents ;)

Straight-up commons' music is what i refer to as evolutionary growth. From his underground unsigned joints in 91/92 on the yard at Famu(Florida A&M Univ) up to One Day it Will All Make Sense. The evolution i'm speaking of is his manhood, parenthood, spirituality, and mental to name a few.Dont get me wrong com is 100% entertainer;however he's dedicated himself to being one with a message. Also Rashid has given the Hip-hop world A gift unheard of before his time & that's A father & son relationship(him & pops) that heads can only look up to with love & respect

This is the single greatest album ever released. It deserves all the praise and recognition that would be given to the likes of Miles Davis or Frank Sanatra. 1) It contains soul, which most albums lack. 2) It has a sense of direction and purpose (regarding his own personal growth). 3) It shares with you experiences that can only help your own mental growth. 4) Not to mention the dope ass lyrics and beats.

Truly your number 1 fan from day 1, still posted in the Bluegrass State. I stood in the store and almost cried when I read that you where a father, but only because I never got my chance to meet you. Kim's got the winning Powerball number because she has got to be the luckiest female a live. No doubt I'm devastated, but I wish you all the luck in the would. I was gone off your skills & you from the 1st time I say the "Take it Easy" Video. I never knew exactly why I felt this cosmic connection, but doing my research I found out you where born on March 13th. I was born on April 13th. That's a righteous and magnetic number, so now I know why. You child will be drawn to greatness because of that number. I doubt if you really read these postboads, but being that this is your site I'm hoping that you will and then remember that daring female from the Bluegrass State who went all out of her way so you would at least know she existed. Love N.B. from Lou, KY.

Common- I am a seventeen year old emcee from California who is very appreciative of your latest work. After hearing Reminding Me... I had to buy the album to see what other knowledge you possess. I have been a connoisser of hip-hop for as long as I can remember and amidst the gangster-rap and thugged-out bullshit, your lyrics, beats, and overall ideas, are a breath of fresh air in this world of shit. Don't get me wrong, I do buy albums by some "hard core" artists, but your positive approach on hip-hop is one that is rarely seen. The collaborations that you chose to profess were also seemingly wise as the featured artists are all quite positive. I would like to extend my gratification and thanks to you and all that you represent and would like to recieve an e-mail if possible. Damn. Being someone first obsessed with beats and then rhymes, Common's sophomore released me up to a world that I thought died in the late 1980's, a powerful genius of an emcee laced over flowing beats. The subject matter is on point and very spiritual. These are things that many people I know deal with every day. Though this is true hiphop it, unfortunately, goes unnoticed by many. This is simply music for those who know. Congrats. to Commmon, Realativity, all powerful emcees and those DJ's who continue to produce massive fucking beats. peace

I have to say that you restored my faith in hip hop. "One Day It'll All Make Sense" makes all the sense in the world to me. This whole CD stimulates my intellect and keeps me entertained at the same time. Who knew that still happened?! From "Retrospect For Life" to "Stolen Moments", the tracks are all that with true-to-life lyrics ranging from abortion to theft on top make it one of the best CDs I've heard in a long time. I especially appreciate the fact that you put some thought into the lyrics and not ramble off random shit about benjamins and e-classes. I have so much more to say, but since someone has to screen these comments, I'll end by saying this: I wish that more young people, especially boys, could relate to your music as opposed to some of that other BS that's out there. I wish they would listen because you definitely have something to say.

BY FAR, ID PUT YOU UP AGAINST ANY MC, AND IT STILL WOULDNT MAKE SENSE TO THEM, BUT ONE DAY IT WILL!!!

"One Day ..." is so much better than anything that was released in 1997, it saddens me to see that the finest MC is not getting the widespread acclaim that he deserves (AGAIN). Personally, I still feel that "Resurrection" is one of my top five favorite albums in any genre. No ID and Com created sounds on that album that a) truly made you feel Chicago soul and b) I've never heard before on a rap album. Plus, Com's rhymes were so deep, I still periodically catch something new in them.
I only hope that Com will keep putting out the quality music that he's been making in this age where labels want nothing less than multi-platinum sales.
Peace to all the true music headz out there.

Both "one day..." and "resurrection" are some of my favorite
albums, of course. But resurrection is still the better,
lyricaly.I theink that one day... needed more tracks like
"orange pinapple juice" or "some shit i wrote", i also think
it needed No I.D. and Ynot to make appearences ( when is Ynot
gonna release some shit in MI ?!) but what i really need is
a copy of the soul by the pound remix, this is white mike the
artist sayin peace

I see you at the park and bug off how you just kick it with the heads and how its all love,i honor you as a lyricist, respect you as a true soul and look forward to having you do some vocal on my forthcoming musical endeavor.

my first reaction to the album was that of disappointment. but it was soon erased from my mind. after careful listening i soon came to appreciate the fresh lyrics. it inspires me to work on my flow, to be more original.

COMMON SENSE IS ONE OF THE MOST CREATIVE
EMCEE'S TO EVER TOUCH THE MIC. AS A FELLOW EMCEE I UNDERSTAND HOW HARD IT IS TO DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND APPEAL TO THE MASSES. COM GETS MY ULTIMATE RESPECT AND I HOPE YOU CAN E-MAIL ME AT(PUDGELUVA\HOTMAIL.COM) TO TELL ME WHEN IS THE NEXT TIME HE WILL BE IN NEW YORK.

Word up Common! Much respect. Peeped you out back in '92 when you came to Lindblom to perform. I'm tryin' put this hip hop agenda into effect myself. Hope to see you on stage. Maybe we can rock mics together.
P.S. Let me get a copy of the conqueror.
